About Us

Ellie Fredericks Equestrian aims to create and run one of the best eventing yards in the country. We provide fantastic facilities and exceptional service so that you can have confidence that your horse will be very well cared for, with horses at the centre of everything we do. If you are looking for your horse to compete, we will also help train and develop your horse to its maximum potential.

Rosegarth

The name Rosegarth comes from the flower rose, and garth, from the Old Norse for yard, paddock or garden.

It is an apt name for a lovely yard in a beautiful area of the country.

Lucinda Fredericks bought Rosegarth in 2000, then added the north fields across Westbury Road in 2006. She ran Rosegarth as an eventing competition yard and had a highly successful competition career herself, winning Badminton, Burghley, Kentucky and an Olympic silver medal in Beijing. She retired from competition in 2017 due to injury, and then towards the end of 2025 was starting to think about retirement from running the yard too.

Ellie and Lucinda

Over dinner and a glass of wine with Alice Page and Mark Stamper, she mentioned that she was considering selling Rosegarth, and one thing led to another glass of wine, and gradually a plan came together. In early 2026 Lucinda sold Rosegarth to Alice and Mark's new company, Devizes Equestrian Ltd (DEL), and the next stage in Rosegarth's history began.

Ellie Fredericks Equestrian

In March 2026 Ellie Fredericks Equestrian LLP was established to run Rosegarth - a 50-50 limited liability partnership between Ellie and DEL, with Ellie bringing the riding expertise, Mark the business knowledge, and Lucinda still involved in the background in an advisory role (she will never retire from riding and being around horses).

Mark is an actuary by training and has worked for some of the world's largest insurers, including Swiss Re, AXA and latterly Cigna, as Chief Financial Officer for all of their international businesses. When doing everything at Rosegarth not directly horse-related, he is on the board of Splash Swimming Ltd (Singapore), Manulife Hong Kong's participating business committee, and a member of the Financial Reporting Council's Tribunal Panel. In any spare time he is an oocasionally competitive masters rower and swimmer.

Ellie has been riding since before she was born, and aims to follow in her mum's footsteps by competing to a high level and running a successful eventing yard. She has just completed a philosophy degree at Cardiff, and when not riding she spends her time contemplating whether there is any point to life if you are not on a horse.

Ellie Fredericks Equestrian would love to see you at Rosegarth, and to meet you and your horse.
